It does that by combining detection technology with the Internet of Things (IoT), to create a connected health system capable of identifying ulcers early, where they can be treated more effectively and cheaply. The result is the world’s first home-use, scale-like device that enables a thermal and visual assessment from a single daily scan.

Enthera is a biotech company building a pipeline of first-in-class biologics for several underserved autoimmune conditions, with a focus on Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). It aims to develop disease-modifying treatments by preserving and re-establishing cell and organ function to revert the outcome of these conditions. Enthera’s therapeutics are founded on the novel scientific discovery of a pathway, the IGFBP3/TMEM219 axis, found to be involved in stem cell apoptosis in the gut, as well as pancreatic and other tissues. IGFBP3 (Insulin Like Growth Factor Binding Protein 3) has been identified as a new enterostaminine that plays a key role in the pathogenesis of some autoimmune diseases, creating a new target and therapeutic approach.

MiGuide aims to help people with type 2 diabetes get a better lifestyle so that they can take control of their health and ultimately reduce the need for medication. Together with its partners, the company developed the MiGuide app for patients and the MiGuide care portal for general practitioners and practice nurses. Aside from diabetes, MiGuide also wants to contribute to the prevention of complications arising from an unhealthy lifestyle. That is why it also offers the CooL program, which stands for Coaching on Lifestyle and is a combined lifestyle intervention (GLI). Adults who are overweight and at an increased risk of complications or who are seriously overweight can participate in this program free of charge if they are referred by their general practitioner. The CooL program is offered in a hybrid form, with the addition of the MiGuide app to increase its effectiveness.

Founded as a spin-out of the global early-stage VC Antler, Clear offers a health program based on a personal glucose meter, an app, a proprietary glucose algorithm and an AI food recommender. The power of the program lies in 100% personalization as everyone’s reaction to food is personal. Through a sensor and an app, Clear analyzes blood glucose levels to detect individual reactions to food. It then provides users with personalized advice in real-time. Users can analyze their individual biological responses to specific foods and receive tailor-made advice on how to improve their blood sugar control and health and how to prevent lifestyle-related diseases.

Habitual is a health tech startup that offers a weight loss program aimed at people with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. It combines evidence-based food replacement with digital (mobile) support to help people manage and even reverse the condition. For the food replacement product, Habitual worked with a product development consultancy that had previously done development work for the European Soylent-rival Huel to develop the formulations. The companion digital program is designed to wrap around and support patients throughout their dietary transitions — including guiding them through the reintroduction of healthy whole foods, with the app giving them tools to track their weight and mood and access resources and digital coaching.
