Formerly known as Final Frontier Medical Devices, Basil Leaf Technologies is developing consumer-level products that empower individuals to monitor and improve their personal health. Its flagship offering, the artificial intelligence-based tricorder prototype called DxtER was originally designed for the global $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE competition as a device to prove the concept that illnesses can be diagnosed and monitored in the comfort of one's own home by consumers without any medical training. At the heart of DxtER is a sophisticated diagnostic engine for diagnosing 34 health conditions, including diabetes, atrial fibrillation, COPD, urinary tract infection, sleep apnea, leukocytosis, pertussis, stroke, tuberculosis, and pneumonia. The device boasts a number of non-invasive sensors, custom-designed to collect data about a person's vital signs, body chemistry, and biological functions. This (sensor) data is then combined with data from a patient's personal and family medical history and physical exam to make a quick and accurate assessment. Basil Leaf Technologies is developing and pursuing approval for several medical technologies. One technology, for non-invasive blood monitoring, is currently in Phase 1 Clinical Trials as it continues to develop remaining technologies in discovery (Diagnostic Engine, Simplified Urine Tests, and Digital Stethoscope and Breath Sound Analysis).
