Tizen is a mobile operating system developed by Samsung that, in addition to smartwatches and advanced activity trackers such as the Gear series, also runs on other Samsung devices, including smartphones, tablets, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) devices, smart TVs, smart cameras, and smart home appliances. Tizen is developed by a community of developers under open-source governance and is open to all members who wish to participate. The Tizen Association has been formed to guide the industry role of Tizen, including the gathering of requirements, identification and facilitation of service models, and overall industry marketing and education. In recent years, however, Samsung has dumped Tizen on its smartwatches and is using Google's WearOS platform instead.
