BeWell Innovations
BeWell Innovations offers digital tools for patient telemonitoring and real-world evidence data. These tools support the needs of hospitals, health systems, pharma companies and the government during the patient journey by collecting relevant data, creating data-communication channels, and providing analysis capabilities. The company's flagship offering, the Well@Home platform, includes multi-pathology care paths that assist care providers in empowering patients with chronic/acute conditions to live better and healthier lives. BeWell also offers a medical self-testing kiosk that improves hospital processes.

Highlights β
- Already generates revenue: As of March 2022, several sources suggest BeWell Innovations has an annual revenue of $6 million. π
- Solving a real problem: More than 45 million and 61 million surgical procedures are performed every year in the US and in Europe, respectively. Most conservative estimates suggest that 10% to 15% of those patients will go on to suffer chronic pain one year after surgery. Chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) is a major public health issue: it affects large numbers of patients, has important economic consequences and has a significant effect on quality of life. Chronic pain after surgery is usually, in part at least, neuropathic, and this makes it hard to treat. An estimated 25% of these patients use opioids to alleviate their pain. A significant part are at risk of over abuse and hence addiction. BeWell Innovation's Well@Home Pain app helps these more than 2.5 million patients and improves their quality of life through its Well@Home platform. π
- Approved by mHealth Belgium: Bewell Innovations' Well@Home app is one of the mHealth apps to be included in the validation pyramid of mHealth Belgium. This approval means that its health app has initiated a first step towards reimbursement for physicians to initiate, respond, act and react upon substantial amounts of health data, refining diagnosis and improving the quality of therapy. Level 1 (M1) criteria include CE declaration as a medical device, registration with the authorities, and compliance with the EU GDPR. Obtaining reimbursement is a level 3 (M3) approval. π
- COVID-19 fighting tech: Bewell Innovations' Well@Home and covidathome.be app were recognized by the governmental Taskforce for Data & Technology against Corona. π
