Cybershoes creates an easy to use VR accessory that adds layers of immersion to any VR experience by letting players control their movement by actually using their legs. Dubbed "shoes for walking in virtual reality," Cybershoes are strapped directly onto the user's feet, and as they are seated in a swivel bar stool, to provide a unique VR journey. The device is compatible with any VR game, and functions with SteamVR, the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. In addition to orientation tracking, Cybershoes use rollers to judge depth motion and have grips to provide some traction for turning. Each sandal has a battery for eight to ten hours of usage on a three-hour micro-USB charge. With Cybershoes at the user's feet, users can feel like they're exploring ancient dwarven ruins or fleeing from a grasping horde of the undead.

  • Great tech team: These folks did it all themselves. They've designed the physical product and developed all the software.
  • Question/opportunity: Can they go beyond gaming to add the general fitness to the mix?
