Helite is dedicated to developing airbag systems and manufacturing of inflatable protective equipment; it is also the leading developer and the first manufacturer in Europe of wearable airbag systems, with more than 60 000 of its airbags being in use today. For seniors, the company offers Hip'Safe, a belt-like device with airbags designed to protect them from hip fractures. The system analyzes and follows motion in context so it can detect when the person is falling in 200 ms (0.2 seconds). In case of fall, both airbags inflate in 80 ms (0.08 seconds) before ground impact to protect the hips. After the impact, the airbags remain strong during a few seconds and then automatically deflate slowly. Hip'Safe is dubbed comfortable, easy-to-use and reusable.
