It provides a line of products and services that serve the sequencing, genotyping and gene expression and proteomics markets. Illumina's technology had purportedly by 2013 reduced the cost of sequencing a human genome to $4,000, down from a price of $1 million in 2007. The company's customers include genomic research centers, pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, clinical research organizations and biotechnology companies. Its products are used for applications in the life sciences, oncology, reproductive health, agriculture and other emerging segments.
