Lynx is developing what it says is the world's first mixed reality headset powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 platform. Called Lynx-R1, it is a passthrough AR/VR wearable with dual 1600 x 1600 pixel displays and 90 degrees field of view, resulting in 18 pixels per degree, and a four-fold catadioptric freeform prism serving as the optics engine. The headset packs six cameras — two black and white cameras for positional tracking, two IR sensors for eye-tracking, two visible-light cameras for RGB image capture — and an array of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. There are also two stereo speakers, a two-channel microphone array, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity options. Lynx, the company, is working with surgeons, industrial companies and defense actors to help them change professional training, traceability and productivity with the help of its headset and custom software.
