CMR Surgical (Cambridge Medical Robotics) is developing the next-generation universal robotic system, called Versius, for minimal access or "keyhole" surgery. The company aims to make minimal access surgery universally accessible and affordable, transforming the existing market for surgical robotics and addressing the six million people who still undergo open surgery each year. Versius is dubbed as the world's first highly portable, versatile and cost-effective surgical robot. Designed from the start to meet the complex requirements of laparoscopic surgery, it fits easily in the existing surgical workflow, while its bio-mimicking form allows surgeons to work in a way that reduces physical and mental effort.
